
Dr. Basema Al-Houri
Dr. Basema Al-Houri is a senior pediatric infectious diseases consultant with extensive experience in pediatric care and quality improvement. She began her career at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in 2005, transitioned to Sidra Medicine in 2017, and returned to HMC in December 2023. Dr. Al Houri graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and holds the MRCPCH credential from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK), as well as the Arab Board certification in Pediatrics. She completed her pediatric infectious disease fellowship at HMC and a one-year fellowship in infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients at SickKids Hospital.
As an IHI fellow with a master's degree in quality and safety in healthcare management from RCSI, she is also a certified coach from the Dartmouth Microsystems Institute (USA) and has served as core faculty in the CCITP (HHQI), where she coached quality improvement projects across HMC. Dr. Al-Houri established and chaired HMC's Pediatric Department Quality Committee, contributed to Sidra's Quality and Safety Committee, and served five years on the Ministry of Health Permanent Licensing Committee.
