Dr. Walid Osman

Dr. Walid Osman is a Public Health Consultant at the Health Emergency Department, Ministry of Public Health, Qatar. He is also participating as a Faculty at the Community Medicine Residency Program in Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar

Throughout his career, he provided technical and managerial expertise for public health programs in the Arab States and the Pacific regions. He managed Global Fund HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria grants in UNDP and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community. He also took part in the humanitarian operations in Darfur.

Dr. Walid is a medical doctor; Master of Public Health holder with concentration in Global Health Leadership Policy and Management, he also holds a Master Project Management; and is a PRINCE2 Practitioner. He is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree in public health.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he established and managed the COVID-19 Quarantine Testing (Swabbing) Team, from March 2020 until March 2021, during this period, the team has collected about 9.8% of the total number of samples collected from all the State of Qatar. The team was also tasked to perform sample collection for Proactive Testing for many special communities (e.g., Military camps/bases, Labor camps, Mosques, Industrial area, Exhibitions and sporting events, and special communities like the Orphanage, Nursing home, and Protection centers). This proactive testing service was advised at several stages of lifting the COVID-19 restrictions.
