Dr. Sama Abdulrazzaq Asal Aljuboori, Bariatric Medicine consultant – MD/MRCP-PACES/ MSc
Dr. Sama is a graduate of the University of Baghdad –College of the Medicine, Iraq-Baghdad in 2008. Dr. Sama had her residency training at the Department of Internal Medicine –Hamad Medical Corporation (An ACGMI accredited internal medicine residency program) and earned her Arab board of internal medicine degree (2015) and MRCP-PACES –at Doha/Qatar (2022). She completed the Bariatric Medicine fellowship training program at the bariatric medicine /surgery department, which is a specialized tertiary centre for obesity management with a multi-disciplinary team approach for obesity evaluation, and treatment. She gained her diploma and MSc degree in Endocrinology from the University of South Whales over the last five years. She is currently a faculty member in the bariatric medicine fellowship-training program at Hamad Medical Corporation. Her main clinical work focuses on medical weight management of obesity and its related comorbidities, treatment of post bariatric surgery malnutrition and neuromuscular complications, and perioperative medical evaluation of bariatric surgery patients as in hospital and/or ambulatory medical care. Dr Sama had many publications in high-impact journals and was able to present them at important national and international conferences. The area of interest in research activities is the effect of bariatric surgery on obesity related comorbidities and the treatment /prevention of medical complications post bariatric surgery, especially malnutrition and neuromuscular. She is involved in obesity fundamental training programs/courses for various health care providers at Hamad Medical Corporation: family physicians and nurses as a part of quality improvements projects. She is a guest lecturer at Qatar University/College of Health Sciences- Human Nutrition Department to undergraduate students. Dr Sama is a member of the obesity society (the American society for obesity medicine), ACP (American College of Physicians), The Royal college of physician and surgeons of Glasgow, The Endocrine society, as well as a SCOPE certified obesity specialist at the European obesity education program (Specialist Certification in Obesity Professional Education) .
