Dr.Hazem Elewa
Head of Clinical Education, Associate Professor, College of Pharmacy, Qatar University

Dr. Hazem received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Alexandria University, Egypt followed by PhD in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics from the University of Georgia (UGA). During that time, he received his pharmacy license in the United States and practiced as a pharmacist at Georgia Regents Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia. After completing his PhD program in December 2008, he joined the University of Florida for a post-doctoral fellowship in pharmacogenomics. Since October 2010, Dr. Hazem served as a clinical pharmacist at Georgia Regents Medical Center and was appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy as well as a clinical rotation preceptor since 2011. He also received the American Board of Pharmacotherapy specialty and has been BPS-certified since December 2010.

Dr. Hazem’s current clinical practice is focused on cardiovascular disease especially the antithrombotic medications. His research interest includes anticoagulation and personalized medicine in cardiovascular diseases using pharmacogenetics. He received several awards nationally and internationally as well as multiple grant funding. To date, he has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications, 3 book chapters, and numerous posters and oral presentations at international conferences. Dr. Elewa has supervised five MSc and 2 PhD graduate students.
