Dr. Mohamed Aly Elsherif is a Consultant in Endocrinology and Bariatric Medicine with more than 25 years of experience. He earned his PhD degree in Internal Medicine and Diabetes at Tanta University, Egypt, and continued his interest in endocrinology by earning a diploma and Master of Endocrinology from the University of South Wales, UK.

He completed his fellowship training in internal medicine at Tanta Medical School. He worked as a specialist internist in a health insurance hospital and consulted on endocrinology and diabetes in MDH Hospital in Saudi Arabia. He chaired the internal medicine department in 2 private hospitals in Saudi Arabia for 4 years and moved to Qatar to continue his interest in the clinical management of metabolic and endocrinal disorders with a special focus on obesity and diabetes management.

Dr. Elsherif is now a Consultant Bariatric Endocrinologist working in the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Section in Hamad General Hospital and Qatar Metabolic Institute and Assistant Director of the Bariatric Medicine Fellowship Program in HMC.

He has a great interest in teaching as well as research activities having several research studies published in international journals and presented in international conferences. He is also a reviewer in some international peer-reviewed journals and a member of several scientific endocrinal societies and associations.

Dr. Elsherif is a member of the Gulf and Lebanon committee of the World Obesity Federation and one of the Gulf experts’ group for obesity management and prevention concerned with developing guidelines for obesity prevention and treatment in the Gulf area.

Dr. Elsherif practiced his interest and experience in teaching and was selected by HMC medical education to among the instructors of communication skills and other educational courses, he was also invited as a guest speaker in several Qatar University educational activities to both under and postgraduate students.
