Dr. Suryanarayanan Sethumadavan

Dr. Surya is the Health Advisor of Ashghal – Government of Qatar- Public Works Authority. He is a medical doctor with 23 years of clinical expertise in the field of emergency and trauma care medicine and occupational medicine.
After his MBBS, Dr Surya specialized in Occupational Health and acquired a master’s degree in Healthcare Management. He has worked with Schlumberger, Qatar Energy, Qatar Foundation and now with PWA.
Working with Ashghal, Dr Surya heads a team of 45 doctors and 123 nurses in 165 Infrastructure projects with nearly 82 thousand workers. Ashghal is transforming Qatar’s infrastructure by building state of the art expressways, local roads, drainage projects and undersea tunnels, buildings, and beautification projects.
Dr Surya is a member of Qatar’s National Strategy Group and works closely with MoPH, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Interior, International Labour Organisation and several governmental and private stakeholders in ensuring quality health care for Ashghal’s workforce, its contractors and consultants.
Suffice to say, Doha is one of the most developed cities in the world today due to Ashghal and its talented team of workforce from over 65 different countries.
Dr Surya would be speaking about the award winning Ashghal health and wellness initiatives, which directly benefitted tens of thousands of immigrant workforce in ensuring preventive and reactive medical support.
This is a true success story for MoPH and PWA underlining Qatar’s health care strategy and the selfless service of doctors, nurses, safety managers working day and night in Qatar’s infrastructure Industry.
