Dr. Samya Ahmad Al Abdulla is Senior Consultant of Family Medicine & Executive Director of Operations at Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), as well as the Deputy National Lead for Mental Health & Wellbeing in the State of Qatar. Dr. Samya is also the Chair of the FIFA World Cup Community Services Tactical Command Group, that is responsible in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of primary health care services to visitors during the tournament. She has extensive experience in both clinical practice and healthcare leadership combined with a strong commitment to drive patient-centric development in healthcare to achieve international quality standards.
As the Executive Director of Operation at PHCC she has been instrumental in designing and delivering the implementation of innovative community health interventions. Dr. Samya has been a key driver towards the implementation of the Family Medicine Model across all PHCC health centers as well as the implementation of regional specialist centers which include services such as mental health, cardiology, dermatology and ophthalmology, allowing patients to receive care and treatment closer to their homes.
Dr. Samya Ahmad Al Abdulla is passionate and driven towards improving access and the quality of health services offered to the community of Qatar. She is well associated with the ongoing fight against diabetes where she has implemented and chaired many committees to identify and effectively manage diabetes. She has contributed and published several research papers related to mental health and chronic diseases and has been a speaker in numerous international and local conferences.
As Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the Community Screening and Vaccinations Health Tactical Command Group, Dr. Samya has been at the forefront of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic; with key initiatives including the establishment of dedicated COVID-19 HCs, drive through testing facilities and the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign at PHCC HCs.
