Celeste Geertsema
Dr Celeste Geertsema is a South African-born New Zealand sports physician, currently employed at Aspetar and working with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy on the preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. She is an assistant professor in Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell University and has published several articles and book chapters on sports medicine.
She has been working in football medicine for the past 20 years, including 7 years as a national team physician and 10 years with FIFA at age group and senior men’s and women’s World Cups. Her expertise is in player medical services in major tournaments and emergency medical response on the pitch.
