Ms. Carolyn Volker is Assistant Executive Director at Hamad Medical Corporation and leads clinical teams at HGH on the redesign of HGH facilities. Prior to this, she was a key member of the corporate Operations Performance & Patient Flow Team and worked with team members at NHICC command centre establishing patient flow during past COVID wave.
Carolyn has been leading on patient flow programmes across emergency, elective and cancer care in several organisations and is especially passionate about improving clinical operations, and capacity management, to implement solutions to ensure a better experience and journey for patients.
Ms. Volker has held several senior nursing and managerial roles, in the UK and South Africa and Qatar. She has completed training in General Nursing and Midwifery (honours), Operating Theatre Nursing (with Honours), BSc. Nursing Studies (First Class Honours) and a Masters of Business Administration. She has received the National Florence Nightingale Award awarded by the South African Nurses Association and was one of the youngest executive directors of nursing at the age of 26. In addition to successful nursing career Ms. Volker has had a successful management career in the UK with executive director posts in emergency & elective care, clinical operations, performance, and modernisation.
Ms. Volker believes that the combination of both nursing and management have enabled her to develop an enhanced understanding of systems and processes in healthcare as well as the ability to put these into operational practice. Making change happen with successful outcomes for patients is what motivates Carolyn.
