Dr. Walid is a Senior Consultant Surgeon and the Clinical Lead of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar and directs the Hepatobiliary Fellowship Program at HMC.

He earned his medical degree from Sohag University, Egypt, followed by a Master's in Surgery and a PhD from Kyoto University, Japan. Over the course of two decades, Dr. Walid has trained and practiced at internationally renowned centers including the University of Birmingham Hospital (UK), Montsouris Institute (France), and the University of Alberta Hospital (Canada).

An expert in both open and minimally invasive surgery, including robotic techniques—Dr. Walid specializes in complex hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and liver transplant procedures. His innovations in the field have been recognized with prestigious honors such as the American Society of Transplantation Distinguished Fellow Award and First Prize at the HMC Research and Innovation Symposium.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Dr. Walid has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and serves on the editorial boards of several leading surgical journals. He is widely respected for integrating surgical innovation with academic excellence and patient-centered care.​​​
