Prof. Ahmad Zarour is a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Head of the Corporate Acute Care Surgery Division, where he leads one of the region’s most advanced multidisciplinary emergency surgery programs. With over two decades of surgical and leadership experience, he has played a pivotal role in transforming acute care delivery across Qatar.
Prof. Zarour completed his General Surgery residency and board certification in Jordan (2000), followed by a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from Strasbourg University Hospital (France, 2004) and a Trauma/Critical Care Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, USA (2010). He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the American College of Surgeons.
His clinical expertise includes General, Laparoscopic, and Emergency Surgery, with strong research interests in bowel anastomosis, hemostasis, and surgical innovation. He has authored over 75 publications and developed the surgical textbook Essentials of Bowel Anastomosis. In 2013, he introduced a pioneering surgical educational course that remains widely recognized.
An advocate for clinical transformation, Prof. Zarour holds a Diploma in Leadership from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, supporting his ongoing efforts in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, and high-performance surgical practice. He actively contributes to research review and mentorship, and is a frequent speaker at national and international surgical conferences.
