Dr. Nizar Bouchiba is a Consultant Surgeon and Assistant Head of Acute Care Surgery at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Doha, Qatar, a position he has held since 2019. He completed his General Surgery residency in Tunisia in 2007, followed by an advanced fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Visceral Surgery in Marseille, France.
Since joining HMC in 2013, Dr. Bouchiba has focused on hernia surgery and surgical innovation. In 2014, he performed Qatar’s first human biological mesh hernia repair, and in 2015, was accredited as a Surgeon of Excellence in Hernia Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). In 2017, he became a certified Robotic Console Surgeon through Intuitive Surgical.
His work continues to shape advanced surgical practice in complex hernia repair and minimally invasive surgery in Qatar and the region.
