Dr. Sharon Jacob
Specialist physician, Transfusion Medicine
Dr. Sharon Jacob earned her MD degree in Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology from the University of Kerala, India. Having worked for over 15 years in this specialty her work experience covers all aspects of transfusion medicine from blood donor to patient blood management, with a focus on immunohematology.
Dr. Jacob has led several significant projects, including those focused on rare blood management, platelet refractoriness, and autoimmune hemolytic anemia, which have been widely appreciated in the medical community. Being a member of several international medical associations, she has consistently contributed to the growth and development of this advancing specialty in every institution where she has worked.
She is an active member of hospital transfusion committees, and several working groups associated with it. Her collaborative work with clinical teams in managing antenatal women with red cell antibodies and rare blood types has been particularly impactful. Working as an education champion, Dr. Jacob has been instrumental in raising awareness and pushing the boundaries of transfusion medicine.
