Dr. Arwa Z. Al-Riyami
Senior Consultant Hematopathologist
Dr Arwa Al Riyami is a Senior Consultant Hematopathologist, working at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Medical University City, Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman. She completed a residency in Haematological Pathology at the University of British Colombia in Canada, and a fellowship in Cellular Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the United States. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Al-Riyami is a member of ISBT, AABB, ISCT and ICTMG. She serves as the chair of ISBT Clinical Transfusion working party and is a member of the ISBT Standing Committee on Ethics. Dr. Al-Riyami is a member of the AABB Global Transfusion Forum steering committee and the Cell Therapy Section Coordinating Committee. She is an AABB assessor and international Ambassador. Dr Al-Riyami is a board member of the Arab Transfusion Medicine Forum and the Omani Society of Haematology. Dr Al-Riyami is a member of the WHO advisory group on Blood Regulation, Availability and Safety.
Her professional interests span hematopathology, transfusion medicine, cellular therapy and medical education and research, with more than 90 publications and 70 speaker invitations showcasing her contribution to transfusion research and scholarship in the region.
