Professor of Hematology at the College of Medicine
Director of the Hematology Residency Program " A Professor of Hematology at the College of Medicine, University of Duhok- Iraq, and the Director of the Hematology Residency Program at its teaching hospitals. After qualifying from the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad-Iraq as a Medical doctor, he practiced and was awarded further qualifications in hematology at the Medical City Teaching Hospital in Baghdad, and Manchester Royal infirmary in the United Kingdom (MSc, PhD). He is also a fellow of Royal College of Pathologists (UK), and a member of the British Society for Hematology. In addition to his academic duties at universities of Baghdad and later Duhok, he assumed several clinical posts during his career, including consultant hematologist at Medical City Teaching hospital-Baghdad, Physician in Charge of the Hematology department at Azadi teaching hospital- Duhok, and head of the scientific research center at College of Medicine (Univ. of Duhok). One of his main interests is hemoglobinopathy research, and he was the chief scientific advisor to the thalassemia center, and he initiated and headed the regional hemoglobinopathy prevention program. He published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, many of which dealt with clinical and molecular aspects of thalassemia and sickle cell disorders.
