Michael P. Busch, MD, PhD
- ISBT Past President, Institute Director, Senior VP of Research, Vitalant Research Institute
- Busch earned his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Southern California and completed his residency in Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, and Transfusion Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is a world-renowned transfusion medicine scientist recognized for his work on transfusion-transmitted diseases such as HIV, HBV, HCV, HTLV, and emerging pathogens including ZIKV and SARS-CoV-2. He has published over 550 scientific articles and serves on several advisory committees including AABB and WHO panels.

Hans Vrielink, MD, PhD
- Senior Consultant, Apheresis Department, Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation
- Vrielink specializes in transfusion and apheresis medicine. He has published extensively and is involved in international courses and training for apheresis. He consults on blood banking and transfusion medicine worldwide, serves as an inspector for JACIE/FACT, and is active in various professional associations.

Stella T. Chou, MD
- Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania
- Chou is the Chief of the Division of Transfusion Medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Her work has demonstrated that the inheritance of variant Rh antigens in patients with sickle cell disease and in Black donors contributes to Rh alloimmunization. Ongoing work focuses on RH genetic matching of red cells, integrating molecular technologies into clinical transfusion medicine practice, and developing novel tools for blood banks.

Shruthi Narayan, MD
- Medical Director, Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT), Donor Consultant, NHS Blood and Transplant
- Narayan chairs the Royal College of Pathologists Transfusion Specialty Advisory Committee. She trained as a pediatrician and hematologist, holds a master’s degree in leadership and service Improvement, and is dedicated to promoting transfusion safety and healthcare improvements.
