Rifat Latifi, MD, FACS, FICS, FKCS
Dr. Rifat Latifi is currently the Minister of Health of Republic of Kosova, and adjunct Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona. He is also in-charge of the Department of Surgery of Clinical Research Unit, at Westchester Medical Center (WMC) in Valhalla Professor and former Chairman of Surgery at New York Medical College, School of Medicine, Director of the Department of Surgery and Chief of General Surgery at WMC. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), International College of Surgeons (ICS), and Founding President and fellow of the Kosova College of Surgeons.
Dr. Latifi is recognized authority in reoperative surgery, global surgery and use of telemedicine and telehealth, as tools of rebuilding healthcare systems in the developing world and post-conflict countries. He is the principal author/editor of 20 books, and author of three national telemedicine programs in Kosova, Albania and Cabo Verde for which he has received the 2015 American College of Surgeons (ACS)/Pfizer International Surgical Volunteerism award.
