Dr. Rayana Bou Haka

Dr.  Rayana Bou Haka is currently the manager, Country Cooperation, and collaboration CCU unit in the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office/ World Health Organization, based in Cairo; a post she has occupied since Cairo since August 2014. Her responsibility covers the support to WHO country offices including the strategic planning processes in countries.  She is also the desk officer of Qatar and UAE since 2017, managing the WHO collaborative programs with the two countries, liaising with technical units in the regional office and in headquarters. Since joining WHO in 2000, she has occupied several posts, at the three levels of the organization as WHO Country representative in Djibouti from February 2011-August 2014;  Medical Officer in Emergency Humanitarian Action Unit(EHA) /EMRO  in Cairo from November 2008-February 2011 as well as from July 2004-December 2005; - Chief of Emergency Operations and Health cluster coordination in WHO Pakistan -Islamabad from January 2006-November 2008; 5- Medical Officer Health Action in Crises (HAC) in WHO HQ- Geneva from October 2000-June 2004. 
Prior to joining WHO, Dr Bou Haka worked as a Consultant to Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) Lebanon in Primary Health Care Pilot Project part of the World Bank funded project for Health Sector Rehabilitation project (HSRP) – Beirut from June 1998-August 2000. She also spent 6 years as the Emergency Unit Physician, American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) –Beirut from 1991-1997, as well as in Private practice as a pediatrician in Beirut from 1990-2000. Dr Bou Haka has received her Bachelor’s in Sciences-Biology from American University of Beirut in 1983 and completed her Medical Doctor degree also from American University of Beirut in 1987.  She specialized in Pediatrics and received her specialty diploma in 1991 from the American University Medical center. In 1992, she obtained her Master’s in Public Health from the Faculty of Health Science in AUB. In addition, she completed several additional trainings and obtained different diplomas in Disaster Management, Humanitarian programming, Sphere standards training, leadership for emergency management and gender.
