Akhnuwkh Jones, MD
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US. He graduated from Quba Institute, in 1997, where he was able to memorize the Holy Qur’aan under the tutelage of Imam Anwar, and Anas Muhaimin. He then moved on to Penn State where he graduated with a degree in Biology in 2001. At the age of 13, his dream was to become a physician, and that became true in 2006.
He graduated from Temple University School of Medicine, in 2006, located in his home town of Philadelphia, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Medical Center in Philadelphia, 2009. In the same year he obtained Board Certification in Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Before Joining Hamad in July 2014, he served as a Hospitalist in Jennersville Regional Hospital located in Pennsylvania. As a hospitalist he was recognized as one of the leading physicians in the world in 2013. In 2014, he moved to Qatar to join the medicine department at Hamad General Hospital. Currently an IHI (Institute of Healthcare Improvement) fellow he recently started the Improvement Advisor course under IHI. His goal is to be a leader in quality improvement in healthcare and a role model for young physicians. On a personal note, Dr. Jones is married with three sons. During his leisure, he enjoys participating and watching sports. The only other member of his family who is a physician is a sister, who is a family medicine physician back in Philadelphia.
