Ahmed A. R. Muhamad Al-Ani, MBChB, MRCP (UK), FRCP (Glasgow)

Dr. Ahmed A. R. Muhamad Al-Ani is a Senior Consultant in General Medicine in Hamad General Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation. He originally qualified   from   Baghdad Medical College in Iraq in 1977 and got his MRCP (UK) in 1988.

He joined the residency program in the Medical City Teaching Hospital in Baghdad in 1980. He worked as a Consultant Physician and Lecturer in the Department of Medicine in Al-Anbar Medical College, then in 2005 moved to Hamad General Hospital in Qatar and has worked as a Consultant in the Division of General Internal Medicine until now. In 2004 he worked as Assistant Professor in Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar and worked as course director and instructor in immediate life support and advanced life support until 2014.

His main interest is in the management of hypertension and the use of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and is currently applying it in research about the “prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea and metabolic syndrome in patients with resistance hypertension in Hamad General Hospital, Qatar”.

In 2002 he was awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Glasgow. He is involved in the Arab board training and clinical examinations and is an examiner in MRCP PACES. He has presented at many grand rounds, workshops and local conferences about hypertension and the management of diabetes mellitus. He has published a number of research papers in peer reviewed medical journals.
