Adam Akers, MD, FACP
Adam Akers was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, US. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY where he received a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering. He graduated with distinction from the University of Pittsburgh School of medicine in 1992. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and was chief resident there in 1995. After residency he was in private practice internal medicine for 10 years before returning to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to the Department of Critical Care Medicine. There he founded the division of hospital medicine and developed hospitalist services at six affiliated hospitals in the UPMC system. Since coming to Sidra Medical and Research Center in 2014 he has worked clinically as a hospitalist at Hamad Medical Corporation and as a primary care physician at the Qatar Foundation PHCC clinic. He is currently involved in developing a maternal medicine clinic at the Sidra Outpatient Center.
