Dr. Mohamed Riyas

Dr. Mohamed Riyas MBBS; MD is a senior consultant radiation oncologist in Radiation Oncology Department at National Center for Cancer Care and Research, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar. He joined HMC in April 2008. Before joining Hamad Medical Corporation, he worked as Assistant Professor in Department of Radiation Oncology, Amrita Cancer Institute, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi, India, and in Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, Academy of Medical Sciences, Kerala, India.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of radiation oncology. He has extensive experience in treating variety of tumors including various benign and malignant tumors. He is specialized in most of the new radiotherapy technology like intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (Rapidarc), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic radio surgery (SRS), stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT), and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). His special interest is in Central Nervous System, Thoracic malignancy and Uro-genital malignancy. Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Stereotactic Radiotherapy and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy and Hypo Fractionated Radiotherapy.

He is a member of Multidisciplinary tumor board for Thoracic and Urogenital malignancies and the  National Clinical Advisory Group for Thoracic and Urogenital malignancies.

He has received additional training in stereotactic radio surgery and stereotactic radiotherapy, from Brainlab Academy, Germany, in image-guided radiotherapy and RPM™ respiratory gating system from Varian Advanced Imaging Clinical School, Wirral, UK, in Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT)/RapidArc® training from Varian Advanced Techniques Clinical School, Copenhagen, Denmark, visiting fellowship in Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Visiting Fellowship from University of California, San Diego, USA and CyberKnife training for by Accuray Sunnywale USA. He actively participates and present in national and international conferences and has many abstracts and publication. He is also a faculty in radiation oncology Weill Cornel Medicine Qatar.

Dr. Mohamed Riyas completed his undergraduate medical degree (MBBS) from Kasturba Medical College Mangalore and post-graduate specialization in Radiotherapy (MD Radiotherapy) from Kasturba Medical College Manipal, India.
