Dr. Gustavo P. Fraga graduated in medicine at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 1992. He did residency in General Surgery (1993 and 1994) and specialization in Trauma Surgery (1995 and 1996). He defended his Master thesis in Surgery in 2001 and Ph.D. thesis in 2004, both at University of Campinas. In 2006, he became Assistant Professor of the Department of Surgery, at SMS - Unicamp, and since 2023 he is Full Professor. He held Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Trauma, Critical Care Surgery and Burns at the University of California, San Diego, with FAPESP scholarship (2007/2008). Since July 2010, he is the Chief of the Division of Trauma Surgery at SMS - Unicamp. He is a former President of the Panamerican Trauma Society (PTS - 2014/2015), and of the Brazilian Trauma Society (SBAIT - 2013/2014). He is a Fellow of the Brazilian College of Surgeons (TCBC), Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST), and the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC). Currently, he is the coordinator of Trauma Center of Vera Cruz Hospital (VCH), and IATSIC Councilor for South America. He is a course Director of ATLSÒ, USET, ADMR, DSTC, and ETC. He published more than 200 papers (175 indexed at Pubmed), 71 book chapters, and was the editor of 6 books. He has experience in medicine, with emphasis on surgery, focusing mainly on the themes: emergency and trauma surgery, trauma systems, education, and simulation in surgery.
