Dr. Dalia Samhouri is a public health professional with about two decades of experience in health emergency management at the scientific, policy, managerial and academic levels. Currently, she is the Regional Manager of Emergency Preparedness and International Health Regulations at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, based in Cairo, Egypt.
Collaborating with many humanitarian and development partners, Dr Samhouri is taking the lead role in the design and implementation of WHO region-wide health security preparedness strategies using and guided by the International Health Regulations and other WHO and UN frameworks, initiatives, and resolutions.
Dr Samhouri has a record of setting up health strategies, designing and implementing action-oriented programs for all-hazard preparedness and disaster risk reduction, emergency care system, mass gatherings, One Health, points of entry and international travel, risk communication and community engagement and operational readiness for health emergencies.
Dr Samhouri received her PhD degree in Biomedical Science with major in Global Health from the University of Geneva, Switzerland and a Master degree of Public Health, majoring in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Tulane University in the United States.
