Huda Amer Al-Katheeri is the Director of Strategic Planning and Performance Department at the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), Qatar. She leads the development, implementation and monitoring the performance of the National Health Strategies (NHS), and its relevant programs, policies, frameworks, standards, and guidelines. An important part of her current role and where her passion lies is the management of Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety section in which she led the development of a national monitoring and evaluation program for healthcare services across the country; Health Service Performance Agreement (HSPAs) Program, National Clinical Guidelines (NCG) program, National Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) program and National Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Program. In addition, Huda led the development and implementation of National Quality and Patient Safety policies, and introduced various National Quality and Patient Safety initiatives, such as WHO Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Initiative, to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality patient care and best healthcare services across Qatar. Huda is also managing the Corporate Strategic Planning and Performance section which has the responsibility to develop, implement and monitoring the performance of Corporate MOPH Strategy.

Huda is known as a dedicated and enthusiastic healthcare professional with a holistic vision in advancing healthcare quality and patient safety across the system. With her expanding knowledge of healthcare strategy along with her leadership skills, she has created a work environment that achieves the best results through innovation and empowerment. Huda has authored numerous quality and patient safety articles. In addition, she is an active member in various national committees where she provides guidance and strategic direction in the State of Qatar, such as Permanent Licensing Committee (PLC), National Screening Committee, NHS Steering Group, National Oral Health Working Group, National IPC Committee, National AMR Committee, Performance appraisal Committee, Appeal Committee, etc.

Huda Al-Katheeri holds a “Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Sciences” from the University of Qatar, “Master of Science Degree in Medical Microbiology” from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University of London, “Master Degree in Quality & Safety in Healthcare Management” from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and “Institute of Leadership and Professional Diploma: Epidemiology in Action” from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
