Dr. Salma Malik

Dr Salma Malik joins Sidra from Institute of Living/Hartford healthcare which is the third oldest and well recognized hospital in United States. She has been trained in General Psychiatry and completed fellowship in Child and adolescent Psychiatry. She also has a Masters (MS) in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with special emphasis on Biotechnology and Genetics from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington DC, US. She is American board certified in adult psychiatry as well as child and adolescent Psychiatry. She has 9 years of clinical experience. Before joining Sidra she was an Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Connecticut. She served as the Medical Student Clerkship Director as well as Associate Training Director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program where she was responsible for the planning and oversight of the clinical curriculum, rotations, and electives.

She has been a supervisor, mentor and on faculty at IOL, CCMC (Connecticut Children’s medical center) and UCONN (University of Connecticut), teaching medical students, General psychiatry residents, Pediatric residents, fellows, Psychology interns, Post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty. She has a record for excellence in teaching and research. She was awarded the Paul Andrulonis award twice in recognition for excellence in teaching.
 
Dr Malik has extensive clinical experience and has worked in inpatient as well as outpatient level of care. She was consultant to Schools, Mood disorder Consultation service, as well as Partial hospital Program and Extended day Program. She was the Director of the Pediatric Clinical Trials Unit and was Lead Principal Investigator for several Clinical Trials. She has also served as Consultant to the Pediatricians in Hartford, CT area.
 
Dr Malik’s primary clinical and research interests include Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Trauma, Psychopharmacology, Pharmacogenomics, Teaching and Training. She has presented nationally and internationally and has published in several peer reviewed journals. Dr Malik is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) as well as Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Dr Malik has received several honors and awards and is on various committees at national and international level.
