Dr. Vishwajit Verma, MBBS, MD, FRCA (Lon), FFICM

Dr. Verma is a Senior Consultant in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit and lead clinician for neurocritical care in Trauma Surgery Section at Hamad General Hospital.

After completing his basic medical training in the UK, he moved to the United Kingdom. He completed his specialist training in intensive care medicine in 2003. He also completed advanced training in neurocritical care at Cambridge University Hospital. 

Dr. Verma was appointed as consultant in adult critical care medicine at Royal London Hospital in 2005. Royal London is one of the oldest teaching hospitals and a large Level 1 trauma centre in east London. In 2007, he was also appointed as a Hon senior lecturer in the Queen Mary University of London in the centre of neuro and trauma sciences. Dr. Verma joined Trauma surgery Section in Hamad General Hospital in 2018.

Dr. Verma’s main area of clinical and research interest is the treatment and prognostication of patients with the head injury. He has been a principal investigator for various reputed national and international trials exploring traumatic brain injury. He has co-authored national guidelines for targeted temperature management in brain injury. In 2014, he served as a specialist member of the quality standards and advisory committee of National Institute of clinical excellence, UK and co-authored national quality standards for Traumatic brain injury.
