
Roula Malas works as Supervisor of the Nutrition and Physical Activity Programme at the Ministry of Public Health in the State of Qatar since 2015.
Roula graduated with a master's degree in Business Administration from the UK after completing her BA in Economy.
Roula has 20 years of experience in managing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating UN and EU projects. She succeeded in establishing a standalone project delivery unit when she worked for the British Embassy and managed to secure funds to translate the projects' plan into action.
Realizing the central role of communication and, because of her personal interest, Roula built skills in strategic communication and outreach, and applied her learning in practice when she worked as public affairs manager for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office for four years. She keeps her efforts in communicating and raising awareness of human development issues focusing on health promotion activities.
During her current job at the Ministry of Public Health of Qatar, Roula is leading the development and implementation of key policies, national guidelines and programs to promote healthy lifestyle in different settings in the State of Qatar such as schools, workplaces and within the community, contributing to achieve the related national targets of the National Health Strategy and Qatar Public Health Strategy.
