Dr. Joseph Derek Forrester

Joe Forrester, MD, MSc is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Stanford University and the Associate Trauma Medical Director at Stanford Healthcare where he specializes in trauma, surgical critical care and surgical infectious disease. He is a former Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where he participated in outbreak investigations for plague and tularemia, two Tier 1 bioterrorism agents, and was a field agent during the 2014-2015 West African Ebola outbreak. He helped coordinate initial the COVID-19 pandemic response for Stanford University, and continues to lead prevention efforts to protect patients and healthcare workers.
