Dr. Gianfranco Pittari

Dr. Gianfranco Pittari received his International Baccalaureate from the United World Colleges and his MD degree from the University of Pavia Medical School, Italy. He later received clinical hematology specialty training from the University of Parma, Italy and a Master’s degree in Clinical Research followed by a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Paris 11.

He initially served as Bone Marrow Transplant physician in Parma, and subsequently worked at Gustave-Roussy and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

He focuses on understanding how immune effector cells recognize cancer and how this knowledge can improve the efficacy of cell therapy for blood malignancies. His work is published in multiple top tier journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Immunology, Clinical Cancer Research and Frontiers in Immunology.

Dr. Gianfranco currently serves as a Senior Consultant of Hematology/ BMT at HMC’s National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR).
