Mr. Al Mazrou

Mr. Al Mazrou was appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Biomedical Physics Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center between October 2013 and February 2023. He was elected to the first Board of Directors of Saudi Medical Physics Society and then as General Secretary of the Society in November 2009. In June 2014, he was elected to the Fellowship grade of the British Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM). Since July 2017, a Residency Training Program for Nuclear Medicine Physicists was started at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh. Mr. Al Mazrou was appointed as the head of this program. In 2018, he was elected to be the Chairman of the Training and Education committee of MEFOMP and in 2022, he was elected as the General Secretary of MEFOMP. Mr. Al Mazrou's interests are in the application and improvement of quality control procedures of the gamma camera and positron emission tomography using NEMA standards and other international guidelines, also improving of image quality in nuclear medicine. Continuing education and teaching are also of his interest. During his career, he organized more than 18 courses and workshops about Nuclear Medicine physics and acted as Chairman and/or member of the organizing committees of several Medical Physics and Nuclear Medicine conferences. The IAEA invited Mr. Al Mazrou with his colleague to write a chapter titled: "Devices for Evaluating Imaging Systems" in "Nuclear Medicine Physics, A Handbook for Teachers and Students" which was published by the IAEA in January 2015. He recently authored a book titled: "Quality Control Procedures of the Gamma Camera, SPECT and SPECT/CT".
