Dr. Maryam Al-Emadi (Qatar-PHCC)
Dr. Maryam Al Emadi is a Consultant of Family Medicine, PHCC's Director of Clinical Operations, and holds an Executive Master's degree in Business Administration and Public Administration.
She is a physician with wide-ranging experience in clinical practice and healthcare leadership. She is also a Certified Clinical Health Coach, Career Coach, and Relationship Systemic Coach.
Dr. Maryam is passionate about delivering patient-centered high-quality care and specializes in the care of chronically ill patients. She has a particular interest in non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, respiratory conditions, and cardiovascular conditions.
Dr. Maryam has been instrumental in implementing and improving numerous innovative primary health care services, including PHCC's annual health check service, which acts as a gateway into the full range of primary health care services available at PHCC.
More recently, she has been at the forefront of driving healthcare innovation in Qatar through implementing precision medicine (PM). She co-authored a PM policy briefing that provides concrete recommendations on moving forward with PM initiatives in Qatar and internationally.
In recognition of her contributions to the development, implementation, and delivery of healthcare services for chronically ill patients, Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, 2018, appointed her as the National Lead for the priority population "improved health for people with multiple chronic conditions."
In her role as National Lead, Dr. Maryam leads a task force of subject matter experts who have developed several strategic initiatives to improve people's health with multiple chronic conditions. Through one of those initiatives, training in Clinical Health Coaching by the Iowa Chronic Care Consortium, of over 70 staff from across PHCC and HMC, has been provided for the first time in Qatar.
Dr. Maryam is also a member of the Arab Board of Family Medicine and has participated in several critical national committees aspiring to improve the delivery of health care services in Qatar, including the National Clinical Guidelines Development Group, the National Cancer Advisory Group, the Enhanced Health Promotion, and Disease Prevention National Task Force, the National Diabetes Care Co-ordination Taskforce, and the Qatar Healthy City Network.
She is also Chairperson of the Public Relations and Media Committee of the Qatar Medical Association and Acting Chairperson of the Planning and Development Committee at the Qatari Forum of Trainers.
