
Dr. Gheyath Nasrallah (Qatar-QU)
Dr. Nasrallah attended Dalhousie University/Halifax, Canada, to pursue a Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology in Dr. Rafael Garduno's lab. He received his postdoctoral fellowship training in Dr. Jason Berman's zebrafish lab at the IWK Health Center/Canada.
In 2012, Dr. Nasrallah joined the College of Health Sciences/Department of Biomedical Sciences at Qatar University (QU) as an assistant professor. His lab's main area of research is infectious disease serology. In addition, his lab provides services to others interested in performing in vitro studies: using bacteria, yeast, and cell culture models and in vivo functional studies using zebrafish animal models.
In the past five years, Dr. Nasrallah received several grants from the Qatar National Research Fund and international contributions from the WHO- EMRO region. During the Corona pandemic, his lab received in-kind funds and support from several international diagnostic and pharmaceutical companies, including bioMérieux (France), Abbott, Mindray, and Wondfo (China).
Additiponally, Dr. Nasrallah received several distinctions and awards, including the Qatar University Research Excellence Award in 2020 and the Qatar University Merit Award in 2022.
He published more than 170 original research and review articles in top-cited journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Medicine, JAMA, and the Lancet Infectious.
