
Dr. Amjad Tufaha (Jordan)
Dr. Tuffaha is a clinician with more than 25 years of experience in the fields of Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy/Immunology. His journey started with obtaining his medical degree from the University of Jordan.
He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology from Baylor College of Medicine and Allergy/Immunology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, after which he became American board certified in both disciplines.
Dr. Tuffaha held academic positions at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and Weill Cornell Medicine in addition to his clinical appointments. Dr. Tuffaha then moved to Qatar, where he helped establish comprehensive Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy clinical services in Hamad Medical Corporation and SIDRA MEDICINE.
He established the “Infant Lung Function Unit” at Hamad Medical Corporation and the “Pediatric Pulmonary Function Lab” at SIDRA MEDICINE and was the director of both units. During his appointment at SIDRA MEDICINE, he established the first Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship program outside the USA that the “Accreditation Council accredited for Graduate Medical Education-International” (ACGME-I).
Dr. Tuffaha moved to Amman, Jordan, one year ago. He established Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy/Immunology private practice, and he and the local pediatric pulmonology community are currently busy establishing the first Jordanian pediatric pulmonology medical society.
His main research interests focused on the Determinants of lung function in children, asthma epidemiology among school children, aerobiology, respiratory sensitization, impact on common allergic respiratory conditions, and utility of infant lung function in health and disease.
