Dr. Susan Gerber
Team Lead, Respiratory Viruses and Picornavirus Team, Division of Viral Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Dr. Susan Gerber is Team Lead for the Respiratory Viruses and Picornavirus Team, Division of Viral Diseases, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); she has held this position since 2012. She received her MD from Loyola University and completed a Pediatric Residency, Chief Residency and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Chicago. Dr. Gerber acquired over 13 years of experience in local public health with work on communicable diseases at the Cook County Department of Public Health and the Chicago Department of Public Health. Dr. Gerber is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Currently, Dr. Gerber leads a team that focuses on the surveillance and investigation of respiratory viruses, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), enterovirus D-68 and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV).
