
Prof Jonathan Barratt
Prof Jonathan Barratt is the Mayer Professor of Renal Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, Hodgkin Building, University of Leicester.
His research focuses on a bench-to-bedside approach to advancing understanding of the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy, a common global cause of kidney failure. He is the IgA nephropathy Rare Disease Group Lead for the UK National Registry of Rare Kidney Diseases (RaDaR) and Convener of the International IgA Nephropathy Network.
Prof Barratt works closely with pharmaceutical partners developing novel therapies for IgA nephropathy and serves as Chief Investigator for multiple international randomized Phase II and III clinical trials in this field. I have also served as a member of the FDA and American Society of Nephrology Kidney Health Initiative working group on identifying surrogate endpoints for clinical trials in IgA nephropathy.
In addition, he is an Editorial Board member for Kidney International and journals of the American Society of Nephrology and also Co-Chair of the UK Glomerulonephritis Clinical Study Group and the IgA nephropathy lead for the KDIGO Clinical Practice Guidelines for Glomerular Diseases.
