Ronald J. Falk, M.D.
Allen Brewster Distinguished Professor of Medicine

Dr. Ronald Falk is the Allan Brewster Distinguished Professor and Chair of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Director of both the UNC Kidney Center and UNC Solid Organ Transplant Program. He is Chair of Carolina Dialysis, LLC and Chair and Co-Founder of the Carolina Vascular Access Center. He is an international expert in vasculitis and autoimmune kidney disease. His career as a translational physician-scientist spans more than three decades, and he leads a multidisciplinary research group who research focuses on characterizing the cell, tissue and physiologic changes in the development of specific autoimmune kidney diseases and the development of new approaches for studying autoimmunity, inflammation and basic neutrophil/monocyte biology. He conducts extension research on the identification of biomarkers of kidney disease and currently holds six patients for methods and kits for detecting and monitoring disease biomarkers, as well as two patient applications pending. Dr. Falk is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Fellow and Past-President of the American Society of Nephrology and a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation.
