Professor Meguid El Nahas, MD, PhD, FRCP, is Professor of Nephrology at the Sheffield Kidney Institute and a leading world expert on CKD. He was a founding member of the Sheffield Kidney Institute in 1990 where he has worked for the last 25 years. He is now Chairman of the Global Kidney Academy that he has set up in 2010 to promote training, education and leadership amongst young Nephrologists in emerging countries. He has over 250 publications mostly in the field of CKD and has contributed chapters in the major Nephrology Textbooks. He is also the editor of a number of manuals and monographs in Nephrology. He has been on the editorial board of most major nephrology journals and was until recently the editor of Nephron. Professor El Nahas was awarded in 2011 the Roscoe Robinson Award, by the International Society of Nephrology, for his lifetime achievement in Education of Nephrologists."
