Dr. Riaz is currently working as a consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care (SICU) at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha Qatar. In his current employment, he has been associate section head and lead for the transformation of the Surgical ICU for two years. He is also Chair of Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Committees of Surgical ICU at Hamad Medical Corporation, Lead for Simulation-based Education for SICU, Lead for Quality Improvement in Education Team (QuIET) for HMC Anaesthesia Residency Programme, and Sepsis Lead for SICU.
He previously has worked as a Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care in the United Kingdom after completion of his UK CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) and was also the Sepsis Lead for his Trust. Dr. Riaz holds Fellowships in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) (UK), respectively. He also held the position of RCoA College Tutor for two years and FICM Faculty Tutor for three years. He is also a Founding Member of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM, UK). He has also worked as Regional Quality Improvement Lead for North of England for FMLM for three years. He has also done training with the NHS Institute of Innovation for Improvement and holds a certificate of Quality Improvement Practitioner from this institute. He has also done training in Medical Leadership with NHS Leadership Academy, UK, and completed its one-year Mary Seacole Programme (MSP). He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership from the Open University Business School, UK.
Dr. Riaz is extremely passionate about medical leadership and healthcare quality improvement and has worked on various local and regional improvement projects while in the UK. He is currently involved very actively in the transformation of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at his current workplace.
