Dr. Sumaya AlYafei earned her bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from King Saud University in 2005, graduating with an excellent grade. She then went on to achieve a Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University, USA in 2011. She also holds several management certifications that help her in her current role as Director.
Dr. Sumaya is the Director of Pharmacy Heart hospital (Hamad Medical Corporation) and Head of HMC Pharmacy Informatics team. She has been part of the HMC for over 10 years, having first joined as a clinical pharmacist in 2005. She worked in several clinical pharmacist and management positions throughout the HMC family of hospitals, including Hamad General Hospital and the National Center for Cancer Care & Research, while also serving as a key member of various committees. Additionally, Dr. Sumaya is an active researcher.
Throughout her years at HMC, she has continued gaining knowledge, practical experience, and leadership excellence. She has shared this insight generously with undergraduate and PharmD students from Qatar University College of Pharmacy as a Clinical Preceptor and Clinical Site Coordinator since 2009. She contributed in many new pharmacy related technology innovates, such as implementation of smart infusion pump.
