Dr. Afif Ahmed is the Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City (HBKMC), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). Following the B. Pharm degree from University of Khartoum, he received a certificate in clinical pharmacy practice from HMC. Afterward, he completed MSc degree in clinical pharmacy at Queen’s University, UK. 

Dr. Afif has more than 20 years’ experience in operational and clinical pharmacy practice. In addition to his current position as assistant director for clinical pharmacy service in HBKMC, he contributed to the operational planning for the pharmacy at HBKMC and Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, HMC. Afif is active in research field. He has many publications in peer-reviewed journals, including publications about Drugs in Sport. Additionally, he presented in many national and international conferences, and delivered different workshops. His fields’ of interest includes clinical pharmacy, drugs in sport and anti-doping activities. He has acted as Doping Control Officer (DCO) in most of the Major Sport Events hosted in Qatar for the last 12 years. He is a guest speaker at the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University to present topics about the national & international anti-doping regulations. Currently, Afif is a candidate for International Olympic Committee (IOC) certified course of Drugs in Sport
