Doha, 29 January, 2026: In the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mansoor bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health, Qatar Health Congress 2026 was officially opened today by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

Held over three days, the landmark event brought together 2,000 healthcare professionals, experts, and decision-makers to focus on one shared goal: improving the quality, safety, and experience of care for patients across Qatar and the region.

Organized under the leadership of HMC, the four-day Congress highlighted how advances in healthcare are directly improving the lives of patients - from faster diagnosis and safer treatments to more coordinated care and better long-term support for people living with chronic conditions.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, H.E Al Suwaidi stated HMC’s core focus remains to deliver world-class specialist healthcare services that address the most complex medical needs of patients in the State of Qatar. He said services are benchmarked against the highest international standards across key specialties, including cancer care, cardiology, stroke, trauma, and emergency services, with many advanced specialist services offered exclusively through HMC.

H.E Al Suwaidi explained that improving access to care is a key priority for HMC, and through digital solutions such as the Lbaih app, the expansion of virtual consultations, enhanced appointment systems, and the delivery of care closer to communities, HMC continues to improve the patient experience and the quality of services provided.

Workshops and sessions at the Congress focused on making healthcare more accessible, personalized, and responsive to patient needs. Topics included improving emergency and trauma care, strengthening best practice in diabetes and cardio-metabolic diseases and, the latest global experiences in managing infectious diseases.

A key theme was the importance of patient safety and quality of care. Healthcare teams shared practical approaches to reducing medical errors, improving communication with patients and families, and ensuring care is delivered consistently across hospitals and community services. The Congress also explored innovative mental health approaches in the care of war injured patients from Gaza as well as the latest advancements in trauma and emergency care.

Pre-Congress hands-on workshops - held at HMC’s state-of-the-art Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center and at the main conference location of the Sheraton Grand Doha, included real-time simulations of medical procedures.

By bringing together expertise from Qatar and around the world, the Qatar Health Congress 2026 reinforced a commitment to a healthcare system designed around patients and communities — one that continues to evolve, innovate, and respond to changing health needs.
