Doha, 10 January 2023: The healthcare team at the Operating Rooms of the Day Care Unit (DCU) at Aisha Bint Hamad Al-Attiyah Hospital (AAH) performed its 100th surgical procedure, a maxillofacial surgery, on 4 January 2023.

Located just south of Al Khor, AAH is Hamad Medical Corporation’s newest hospital, and is undergoing a phased opening.

Commenting on the 100th surgical procedure, AAH Medical Director, Dr. Ibrahim Mohd Fawzy Hassan, said: “I congratulate the entire healthcare team at the Day Care Unit for this tremendous achievement. In just a short space of time since the hospital’s formal opening on 7 November 2022, we have reached this significant surgical milestone. Our healthcare teams are making a positive contribution to improving access to high-quality medical services for Qatar’s population.”

The Day Care Unit Operating Room runs five days a week from 7am to 3pm. Within a span of just two months, the team successfully conducted more than 100 surgeries and continues to expand the number and range of procedures performed. Surgical cases at AAH to date have included acute care surgery, urology and maxillofacial patients.

AAH is HMC’s second largest hospital and has been established according to the world’s highest standards in medical technology in terms of equipment and furnishings. Once fully operational, the hospital will provide 300 single-occupancy inpatient beds, 232 of which are for general and acute patients. The remaining 68 beds are reserved for critical care patients.
