Doha, 5 November 2022: Health officials have confirmed that all Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), and Qatar Red Crescent hospitals and health centers will be open as normal throughout the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and offering a full range of healthcare services to patients.
Chair of the Supreme Committee for Healthcare Communications, Mr Ali Al Khater, explained that none of the current road closures or changes prevent patients accessing any hospitals, health centers or clinics.
Mr Al Khater said: “The public healthcare sector will continue to offer a full range of services to patients during the FIFA World Cup, and we are committed to ensuring patient care is unaffected during the upcoming period.”
“We advise patients to plan their routes carefully and allow for additional time to get to their appointments – especially for facilities located near the Corniche area or if visiting facilities close to stadiums hosting matches on the day of their visit.”
To make it easier for patients to access their care during this period, both HMC and PHCC are offering more virtual appointments, where clinically appropriate, to patients who wish to have their outpatient consultation in the comfort of their home, rather than visiting a hospital in person.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, HMC and PHCC have significantly increased the use of telemedicine consultations and virtual services. These remote services have proved very successful, with high rates of patient satisfaction.
For more information on virtual appointments, patients can contact HMC’s customer service team, Nesma’ak on 16060 or PHCC’s Hayyak team, on 107.
HMC and PHCC patients can also request to have their medication, medical reports, medical consumables and dietary products delivered to their home by Qatar Post for a fee of only QR20. To request this delivery service, patients can call 16000.
