Following the opening ceremony, His Highness the Father Amir toured the hospital, which has been equipped with the latest medical devices and technologies, and was briefed on the range of medical care and specialized treatment services provided at the hospital for patients, especially children with special needs.
With a plot area of 140,000 square meters and a hospital area of 82,000 square meters, AAH is the second largest HMC hospital following Hamad General Hospital, in terms of size and capacity and has the most advanced medical equipment. The main building consists of 4 levels with 300 treatment rooms. The ground floor contains 10 entrances and reception areas to serve the different departments, waiting areas, cafeterias, prayer rooms and other services which are important to patients and visitors. The basement is designated for logistics such as laboratories, the main kitchen and sanitization operations.
The main building consists of the emergency department which is divided into three parts: male, female and pediatric with a capacity of 60 beds. The building also includes a comprehensive clinical imaging department in addition to waiting areas and cafeterias.
The clinical facilities provided at AAH consists of 13 comprehensive operation theatres, 4 operating theaters for day care procedures, 96 treatment rooms for males, 48 treatment rooms for females, 48 obstetric rooms, 15 VIP inpatient rooms, 15 beds for on-call units, 40 pediatric rooms, 40 ICU beds for adults, and 28 beds for neonatal ICU. The hospital also includes 64 outpatient clinics located on two floors: ground and first, a pharmacy, a 11-bed hemodialysis unit, a rehabilitation unit, and a clinical imaging department. The parking capacity at AAH is 1500 spaces and 75% of the parking spaces are covered. AAH has been established according to the world’s highest standards in medical technology in terms of equipment and furnishings.
The hospital is distinguished by its design based on the ease of movement between the outpatient clinics and the main building and between the various internal medical departments, which helps both patients and medical teams at the same time. In addition, natural lighting has been incorporated into the building design as much as possible. The establishment of this hospital has been achieved as a result of the diligent and continuous work between the Private Engineering Office and Hamad Medical Corporation, benefiting from their previous experiences, where three previous hospitals were implemented (Ras Laffan Hospital - Hazm Mebaireek Hospital - Mesaieed Hospital) as well as health centers and major clinics such as the Health Center in the industrial area and the Asian Village Medical Clinic in the industrial area.
With the commencement of phase one of operations at Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah General Hospital, the Hospital will receive emergency cases with non-life-threatening medical conditions, especially since its location is near to Al Bayt Stadium and Lusail Stadium, where it is located on the intersection No. 47 on Al Khor Coastal Road and is easily accessible.
Present at the opening ceremony were Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, and His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Mutlaq Al Qahtani, Vice President of the Private Engineering Office.
Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari noted that the opening of Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital coincides with the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the new hospital will play a key role throughout the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in supporting the healthcare sector’s World Cup services. The Hospital is one of four HMC hospitals with designated 24/7 urgent care units for individuals with urgent – but non-life-threatening – medical conditions. The new Hospital is located between Al Bayt Stadium and Lusail Stadium, the two largest FIFA world cup stadiums, and has a large capacity and all necessary medical equipment to serve patients and is easily accessible as it is located adjacent to several major intersections. The hospital will also receive local patients, including citizens and residents as usual.
The implementation of the hospital project has been completed over a period of three years by the Private Engineering Office with direct coordination with HMC from design stages through to commissioning and opening of the hospital. The hospital operations will be phased in over the coming months, it is considered one of the most advanced hospitals. One that uses the latest technologies and equipment and will serve the people of the area and the various surrounding areas, as it will help reduce their need to visit Hamad General Hospital to obtain a medical service.
