Doha, 24 February, 2020: The Minister of Public Health, Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, today inaugurated the new headquarters for Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC’s) Transport Department.
The purpose-built headquarters, located near the Surgical Specialty Center, will enable the Department to better serve HMC’s complex and growing transportation needs.
During the event, Her Excellency Dr. Al Kuwari toured the new building along with senior leaders and dignitaries from HMC. The new facility includes VIP waiting areas, a dedicated call center for the Department, a majlis, and administration offices.
“HMC’s Transport Department provides vital transport services for staff, HMC visitors, and guests. It is also a Department with one of the highest representations of Qatari employees. The transport team delivers an essential service that helps keep HMC moving safely and efficiently,” said Mr. Hamad Al Khalifa, HMC's Chief of Healthcare Facilities.
A team of 383 drivers transport staff, visitors, and guests between HMC’s network of 12 hospitals as well as other facilities. The Transport Department also has satellite offices at Heart Hospital, Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, and Al Khor Hospital, and there are plans to expand to other locations. The Department manages and monitors a total of 650 vehicles through its Global Positioning System (GPS).
“More than 60 requests are made to the Transport Department each day –transporting staff to meetings both on campus and around Qatar,” said Mr. Rashid Saleh M A Al Marri, Assistant Executive Director of Hospitality (Transport).
“The team works around the clock to ensure staff, visitors, and guests using the service can access safe and efficient transportation. The Transport Department has grown to more than 383 drivers to accommodate the changing needs of the organization. Our new headquarters will enable our Department to further serve HMC’s objectives,” added Mr. Al Marri.
As part of the inauguration, Her Excellency Dr. Al Kuwari also launched the Department’s new online booking system which will enable staff to book journeys to meetings and other essential business trips with ease.
