    Doha, 8 December, 2020: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement Deputy Chief of Quality, Mr. Nasser Al Naimi, has been appointed to Planetree International’s prestigious Global Person-Centered Care Certification Committee. Planetree is a not-for-profit organization that partners with healthcare organizations around the world to transform how patient care is delivered.

    Planetree International’s Global Person-Centered Care Certification Committee is composed of 12 healthcare leaders from across the world. These healthcare leaders are responsible of evaluating healthcare facilities aspiring to achieve Planetree Certification for excellence in person-centered care. Currently, the members of this committee evaluate healthcare facilities across six continents and 40 different countries.

    Mr. Al Naimi has been driving HMC’s agenda of delivering enhanced patient experience and this transforming HMC’s culture to being person-centered, demonstrated by the recent Planetree certification of several of the Corporation’s facilities. Mr. Al Naimi’s appointment is recognition of his leadership in the delivery of person-centered care across HMC.

    The Person-Centered Care Certification Committee is an independent body appointed by Planetree International’s Board of Directors. The charge of the committee is to provide strategic and operational guidance into the Person-Centered Care Certification Program, an evidence-based set of standards that define excellence in person-centered care around the world. It is also the group with the final authority to confer Person-Centered Care Certification based on an organization’s performance against the standards. To date, 195 healthcare organizations in 15 countries have achieved the certification.

    Mr. Al Naimi is one of 10 members serving on the Certification Committee. Members represent a range of perspectives, all critical to assessing excellence in person-centered care. They include healthcare executives, clinicians, patient/family partners, and experts in quality, safety and evaluation. The international committee currently includes members from eight countries. 

    Mr. Al Naimi said he was proud to have been appointed to the high level committee.

    Mr. Al Naimi expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Public Health, Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari for her leadership and vision in building a comprehensive world-class healthcare system for Qatar. “The sincere and determined vision set by Her Excellency Dr. Al Kuwari has enabled us to lead and deliver healthcare programs that are making a positive impact on care for our patients”, added Mr. Al Naimi.
