Themed by Healthcare Resilience in Extraordinary Times, on 16-19 March 2023, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI,) is hosting its 9th annual Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, the annual gathering of healthcare professionals in quality improvement and patient safety.

The ME Forum regularly connects around 3000 healthcare leaders and practitioners from around the globe, providing a stimulating and inspiring setting for healthcare professionals to meet, learn and share knowledge with the collective aim to improve the quality and safety of care for the patients and communities we serve.

Forum Tracks and Learning Objectives


Under the theme of “Healthcare Resilience in Extraordinary Times”, this year’s forum themes and learning objectives are as follows:

  • Improvement Science and capacity and capability building

To apply the concepts, methods and tools of improvement science and develop meaningful, sustainable and measurable change that improves health and healthcare during extraordinary times to manage the emerging challenges and the unexpected and maintain the day to day operations

  • Person-Centered Care

To learn about putting people, patients, care partners and staff at the heart of every decision and partnering with them to improve care. To strengthen the culture of mutualistic relationship between health care providers and patients and to empower shared decision making throughout health and illness management journeys.

  • Flow, Safety and Value Improvement

To explore means to accelerate a healthcare organization’s ability to support and improve flow, patient safety and value improvement

  • Population Health

To understand how to improve the health outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group.

  • Leadership, Resilience and Sustainability

To learn about inspiring and engaging leaders at all levels of building resilient and sustainable health and healthcare systems results, especially during extraordinary times

At the end of the forum, the participants will be able to:

  • Identify how flow, safety and value improvement science is applied in health care and what are the possible improvement outcomes for populations with diverse needs through partnerships between health systems and communities.
  • Understand that a system is critical to improving a process, and what are the methods and tools to achieve this and what is the level of leadership and resilience needed for the sustainable improvement efforts.
  • Understand that interprofessional ‘joyful’ teams conducting improvement project, including an aim, measures, and iterative tests of change, evolve into reliable, standard work that results into better patient experience and patient safety

We invite you to submit your scientific work as abstracts for the upcoming Middle East Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare 2023, to be held from 16-19 March 2023.

Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts on the forum theme - “Healthcare Resilience in Extraordinary Times”. All Abstracts will undergo a review and evaluation process.
