Dr. Mátrai is a Certified Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon specializing in general, thoracic-, plastic surgery and clinical oncology. He is a Senior Consultant at the Department of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, HMC.
Dr Mátrai was Head of the Department of Breast and Soft Tissue Surgery (2012 – 2022) and Head of the Centre of Surgical Oncology (2014-2022) at the National Institute of Oncology, Hungary.
He is fellow and examiner of the European Board of Surgery in surgical oncology and breast surgery. He is co-founder of BRESO, a member of the scientific board of the Oncoplastic Breast Consortium, EUBREAST and Johnson&Johnson Mentor Advisory Board.
He had fellowships at Inst. Karolinska, Royal Marsden, Keyo Univ., St. Andrea Hospital. He is editor of the textbook Principles and Practice of Oncoplastic Breast Surgery author/co-author of 109 scientific papers.
