She obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1992. Finished post-graduate studies in Canada and received the Specialty Certificate in Internal Medicine / Hematology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Toronto, Canada, in 2000.
Dr. Salha Obtained additional certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine/Clinical Hematology and Medical Oncology, Toronto, Canada in 2000/2001/2004. Master of Molecular Oncology: Molecular Basis of Cancer CEB/European School of Oncology 2018
Appointed as Consultant in Haematology/Oncology at Hamad General Hospital from February 2003 to 2005, then promoted as Sr. Consultant in Haematology/Oncology at NCCCR in 2005. She is a member of International Oncology Societies such as ESMO ASCO and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Scientific Council.
She served on many HMC committees. Her research activities focused on breast, gynecological malignancy, and cancer genetics. She has multiple active grants from QNRF. She has been the author of several publications and guidelines.
She established various services unique to the cancer program, including the ACGME-I Accredited Medical Oncology Fellowship. She founded hospital-based standard-risk Breast Cancer Screening in 2008, the Hereditary Cancer Genetic Program in 2013, and the Breast Tumour Board in 2005.
In addition, Dr. Salha is the A/Chair of the HMC Precision Medicine Committee and the Chair of the Organizing Committee of the Annual Breast Cancer Conference, held regularly in October for the last seven consecutive years.
